Organizational Performance | Grow Your Rock

When working with a ‘small’ boss, here are ten reflections on how to stay alive and grounded

Please remember that:
1. Your boss is human too
2. He tries his best so bear with him
3. He is unlucky being your boss: your greatness highlights his smallness
4. He has his good days. Do yourself a favor: do not count them
5. With his light not shining so brightly, the room does not have to be so clean. If you can live in an unclean room, live with it. Even better if you can enjoy it.
6. You are your own point of reference: take this as a blessing rather than a curse
7. A week has seven days. Only five days are with him. Say it out loud as much as you need: ‘only’
8. Maybe he lives in an underground flat next to the railroad, so grant him the big office window from which he stares out most of the day
9. He is grateful to have you, he is just not capable of expressing himself properly: kindness is a gift to share but easiest for those who received it themselves
10. Even if at times he incarnates alien life forms, please remember: Your boss is human too
